After the huge success of the MusicConnex event in April to help connect People, share Ideas, promote Innovation and hopefully Empower those who want a career in music we had such an overwhelming response and support we feel compelled to do more. So although we are already working on next year’s event we have a number of exciting plans for activity in the interim. This is the first in a series of events we plan to host. There is so much exciting talent in the UK right now who have been enabled by the digital revolution to put out their own music. We wanted to provide a platform to showcase and help promote some of best Artists around at the moment. This means not just the gig itself but a fully integrated marketing strategy to help promote the featured Artists current releases

Much like all MusicConnex events this will be an opportunity to meet many senior professionals from the music, media, digital, events and sponsorship industries who will also be in attendance, so a fantastic opportunity to network with People.

Early Bird tickets have completely sold out! But we wanted to give those that have supported us the opportunity to get a special discount so we have made a very limited number available for only:
£5 plus booking fee (reduced from £15) by using promo code MCX5.

Discovering, developing and delivering new music!

Exposure Music Awards® exist to help new artists and bands onto the radar, to help find new fans in the great music loving public – and to introduce new friends among industry and media along the way.

Launched in 2008, the Awards include Best Genre categories right across the musical spectrum, with recognition also for Best Male, Best Female, Best International, Best Video and Best Live! Nominations.

The Awards are judged by an experienced panel of music industry and media professionals, from label bosses and heads of A&R, to award-winning producers, radio presenters and many more who share a passion for unearthing new talent.

Best Genre Awards are judged entirely from the profile information submitted online, while nominees for the Best Live! Award are invited to play at regional auditions, as part of the selection process for the Best Live! Award Shortlist.

Previous EMA® Winners have:
- gained airplay on partner radio stations,
- hooked global Distribution deals,
- been selected to play Summer Music Festivals and The O2
- won free studio time and the chance to work with world class Producers
- been paid for the use of their music on MTV and VH1 globally,
- been presented at MIDEM, SXSW and LASynch

Exposure Music Awards continues to develop its live circuit, to bring EMA® winners to new audiences on the M4 Tour and M5 Live! – and a growing number of opportunities to play support slots at major music events.

This year, Best Live! Nominees have the opportunity to play LiveFest at The O2, with headliners N-Dubz, Tinchy Stryder and The Hoosiers on July 23rd.

Discovery Talent

June, 15th 2011 10:40

Here’s a quick mention of the next Discovery Night @ AAA (London). The last one was awesome and I loved Zebedy Rays  - Their singer/guitarist is a human cannonball hybrid of Iggy Pop & Jimi Hendrix. You have to see it to believe it!

This Thursday 16th:

Olos

A  UK pop rap vocalist with his twisted lyrics set to grimy electro beats. He was in the London Urban Collective’s Hipopera “Inferno”, he’s been MCing with Flirta D on the live scene and has a regular MC slot on UrbanFMTV.com.  Intelligent wit combined with an effortless delivery that floats, whips, flips and snaps at the ears and hips.

LUKE ARMITAGE

“Lovely and funky pop music.” “Expect some more pop music by this guy with a great dance vibe in it!” (The Rusty Blog – December 2010 – Belgian Blog)

NORQUAY

His John Martyn style of play and raw, unabashed personality define a unique talent emerging from the Scottish music scene.  A past solo performer at Discovery this time he will be performing with his band.

“Norquay’s got a great future ahead of him.” (Sharleen Spiteri)

DANNY PAPE

A very promising singer songwriter who won the 2010 ‘Make It Break It’ Yamaha Award and EMI Music Publishing’s ‘Most Promising Artist Award’.  His new ep “Home” is available as a free download!

AKW from Discovery Talent presents her monthly showcase, bringing you the sharpest emerging artists around.

May, 25th 2011 18:25

Discovery showcase nights are fast gaining a reputation as being a fantastic springboard for emerging talent to play in front of industry professionals. They have recently booked Ed Sheeran, Sandi Thom, Scouting for Girls, Dan le Sac & The Guillemots who have all gone on greater success

This Thursday from 08:00pm…

ZEBEDY RAYS Hailing from the outback of Worcestershire, Zebedy Rays combine sleazy guitar riffs, pounding basslines, and an electric energy on stage. “The Mumfords with a sonic rocket up their arse!” – ZZub Industry Buzz “Brilliant” Huw Stephens Radio 1 “They Sound Great, I Can’t Wait To Hear More” John Kennedy XFM www.zebedyrays.com

OCTOBER SKY “Yet another hot undiscovered Canadian machine arising from the steam……All ten of these numbers are melodic and dripping in atmosphere you can actually feel yourself standing in.” Metalville Mag (UK) “ Who are October Sky? The same question I asked myself before listening to their album and one they silenced with their phenomenal music.” Sonicshocks mag (UK) http://www.youtube.com/octoberskyofficial

ORLANDO SEALE & THE SWELL Having just finished recording their first album ‘I love you beast’, bring you songs reminiscent of Talking Heads and Bowie. Swinging from the intimate to the epic, the melancholic to the euphoric. ‘If Jeff Buckley was still alive, and if he had been English, and if he had discovered orchestras, that’s probably what he would have aimed for.’ Gunilla Karlson-BBC London ‘That for me will be one of the most memorable bands…absolutely fantastic.’ Jo Good-BBC London www.myspace.com/orlandoseale

Liverpool Sound City 2011- Bands to Watch and Playlist

May, 18th 2011 13:45

Summer rocks. Fact.

Sunshine = barbecues + beer gardens +next level gigs + festivals…

In short, all that is right with the world.

Liverpool Sound City kicks off tomorrow, and it promises 3 days and nights of amazing gigs. Much more than that, LSC, is also a conference which provides international perspective on the best in new music, art, film, photography, business, new tech, media and more in one of the world’s most legendary music cities… So really there’s quite a bit to see and do.

We’ve already given away all of our free passes this week on our Facebook page, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still buy tickets… in fact, we organised a special discount for Zimbalam customers at Liverpool Sound City: £120 per person (normally £150). Just go to Sound City’s ticket page and enter code: DELEGATELSC68

And, just in case you aren’t prepared to make decisions about what acts you definitively MUST see, we’ve created our very own list of Bands to Watch, complete with SoundCloud playlist

Visit the Zimbalam Liverpool Sound City Playlist

The Draymin
Inspired by a love of guitar and dance music, this Scottish 5 piece combines equal parts melodic dance, indie pop and stadium band to create a guitar-led, crowd-pleasing sound that pulses with relentless energy…

The Jezabels
Sydney quartet, The Jezabels are on this week’s cover of Music Week following successful performances at The Great Escape and Music Week Breakout On Tour. An alternative band, The Jezabels’ sound brings a Florence style pop sensibility along with hints of Esben & The With’s gothic touch to haunting vocals, reminiscent of Karen O.

Fiction
We featured this London-based 4 piece band back in March. Officially formed in 2009, Fiction have played the stage at Offset Festival, the Huw Stephens-curated Sŵn Festival and supported the Klaxons, their sound has been described as perfect, anarchic pop.

Three Trapped Tigers
Currently a featured artist on Sentric Music, Three Trapped Tigers bonded over the idea of dragging pieces of intelligent dance music into a live band format. Their sound combines sheer raw energy and power – truly three caged beasts.

DZ DEATHRAYS
Australian indie band DZ DEATHRAYS can’t be put into a nutshell; groove, glam, thrash, punk, psychedelia, blues…. It’s all in there. For a two-piece, they certainly produce a lot of noise, so if you’re a fan of Death From Above 1979 or Regular John, you’ll definitely want to try their catchy brand of chaotic fuzz layered rock.

Monday Blues? Free Tickets to Liverpool Sound City and more…

May, 16th 2011 09:27

M-m-m-m-Monday.

Monday’s a drag. It hangs over your head all weekend long like a dark cloud, and then when it finally arrives, it lasts forever…

This week on Zimbalam, it’s going to be Monday – every single day! No, we’re not self-loathing kooks – we’re simply making up for how spoilt April made us…

For starter’s we’re bringing back our weekly featured artist blog and SoundCloud Playlist.

But we’re going much bigger than presenting a new Zimbalam Featured Artist every day (this week only), we’re also giving away FREE passes to Liverpool Sound City. That’s right folks, all you need to do is change your Facebook status to “I want Zimbalam UK to send me to Liverpool Sound City”, making sure that you tag our Facebook page for your chance at one of our FREE three-day passes.

And if you think that the new playlists and Sound City tickets were all we had to offer, you’re sorely mistaken my friend. Follow us on Twitter or like us on
