Stuck at your number of followers? Tried everything? Here are a few nifty tricks to get more followers!
Twitter is the number one microblogging site. Everyone from Justin Bieber to Barack Obama has it! But with more people joining, the more crowded the Twittersphere becomes, and the harder it gets to reach your new customers. So, here are a few simple things you can do (right now!) to make sure you get those all important new followers…
Use Twitter Adverts…
Twitter have released a new advertising scheme for small businesses (which you as artists or bands qualify for!) So here’s how they work:
Promoted Accounts: This matches your account with others by looking at your followers and theirs, and then matching similar interests. When there is a match Twitter recommends you in the ‘Who To Follow’ section, easy!
Promoted Tweets: This looks at your tweets and takes the best ones (it could be blog posts, videos, anything) and puts it above the rest!
Bad news though: you do have to pay, BUT only when you get a new follower. You don’t pay to appear in the ‘Who to follow’ section or ‘promoted tweets,’ you simply pay when you get a new follower AND you can set the limit so there are no surprises when the bill comes out! https://business.twitter.com/en/smallbiz/
Email digests straight to your inbox…
You can keep updated with Twitter on the go. Twitter will email you a summary of the most relevant Tweets and stories shared by your followers. But how do YOU get onto the email digest?
Here are three things you can do:
– Have a look and see what Tweets are getting attention
– When tweeting, add value to the trending topic or twitter stream
– Make sure you Retweet and Favourite other people’s tweet – they will return the favour!
Do all these things and you’ll have more followers before you know it!
But it’s ok, Twitter has created a new tailored recommendation tool for you to use so you can get the RIGHT followers and have the chance to appear in the ‘Who to Follow’ section next to your live Twitter stream.
Twitter says…. these “tailored suggestions are based on accounts followed by other Twitter users and visits to websites. By recognising which accounts are frequently followed by people who visit popular sites, we can recommend those accounts to others who have visited those sites within the last ten days.”
So how do you stand a chance of appearing in a recommendation?
– Post tweets that appeal to your followers – don’t clog up their twitter feed!
– Make sure you try and attract followers who are into similar interests as you – the inactive followers with harm your account too as they won’t spread the word and get YOU more followers.
So, there are just a few ideas for you to get more followers. Don’t forget though… YOU are talking to YOUR fans – inject your personality and have fun, then you will have more followers in no time! Good Luck!
